Pentwater's cross-country season isn't quite all the way done, because Falcon senior Bailey Case delivered a season best run at Saturday's Division 4 regional in Allendale, earning herself a spot at the state meet.
Case's time of 21:33.3 was good for 15th place, earning her the final individual qualifying spot from the meet.
"Bailey becomes just the fifth girl in Pentwater school history to qualify for the cross-country state finals," Pentwater coach Erika Fatura said. "What an incredible accomplishment and a well-deserved reward for her hard work, dedication, and perseverance."
The Falcons had three other girls finishers at regionals. Lily Smith finished 34th and posted a time of 24:42.1, and Valerie Smith was 42nd (28:01.0), just a second ahead of teammate Maggie Jorissen, who set a season best time of 28:02.1 to finish 43rd.
Walkerville's Ethan Schamber led county boys runners with a 43rd-place finish and a time of 19:50.8. Wildcat freshmen Easton Flanery (70th, 25:44.0) and Easton Wolgamott (71st, a personal best 27:16.7) also finished the race.
For Pentwater, eighth-grader Skyler Compton continued his terrific finish to the season with a personal best time of 20:44.1, finishing 53rd. Tyler Zimmer placed 58th with a time of 21:00.1, and Ben Roberson was 68th with a time of 23:34.8.
