With a remarkable defensive effort, Whitehall handed
Ludington its first West Michigan Conference defeat in over a year
Monday night, 1-0.
The win was the fourth straight
for Whitehall (4-3, 3-1 WMC), and the third straight in league play.
Ludington had not lost a conference match since Montague defeated the
Orioles Sept. 4, 2024.
"Alex Winczewski (kept) another clean sheet in net, and the defense stepped up," Whitehall coach Dillon McCarthy said.
McCarthy
awarded men of the match status to the team's four-man starting defense
- Raymond Hesse, Mason Kotecki, Javi LeBlanc and Keegan Frees.
Carter Burrous scored the game-winning goal late in the second half, with Corey Holmes earning the assist.
