Montague split a non-conference doubleheader against Newaygo
Wednesday, with Newaygo taking game one 5-4, scoring the game-winning
run in the sixth inning, before the Wildcats struck back with an 8-3 win
in game two.
Eli Petersen and Cole Herremans each got two
hits in Montague's game two win, which featured a pair of three-run
innings. Levi Auger had a run-scoring double in thefourth inning, and
Cole Moss and Petersen each had a RBI double in the fifth. Eli Pendell
got the win, allowing 7 hits and striking out 3.
The Lions
scored once in the sixth inning of game one to win a back-and-forth game
in which the Wildcats took the lead in the third, lost it again, then
tied it back up in the top of the sixth. Cole Moss got 2 hits for
Montague. Dylan Bailey had the tying hit in the sixth inning, a bunt
single that turned into a Lions error.
