Torreanno ‘Torre’ Fredrick Lewis

Torreanno "Torre" Fredrick Lewis, age 59, of Allendale, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026. Born on October 23, 1966, Torre was a devoted husband, father, brother, son, mentor and friend.
He was the kind of man whose presence made people feel safe, supported and loved. He was smart beyond measure, stubborn in the best of ways, funny, kindhearted and fiercely devoted to the people he loved most.
Torre built a respected career working in accounting, safety management and as a business controller. He also proudly served his country in the United States Army Reserves and was honorably discharged after his service. He worked hard throughout his life, but the roles he treasured most were husband, father, coach and family man.
Above all else, Torre cherished his family - Veronica and Derrick were the center of his world.
To his wife, Veronica Lewis, he was a loving partner and best friend. To his son, Derrick Lewis, he was more than a father - he was a coach, mentor, role model and constant source of strength.
Torre found joy in the simple things in life - being outdoors, relaxing by the lake, spending time with family and cheering on the Detroit Tigers. He was also passionate about sports and dedicated many years to coaching football, baseball and basketball throughout his son's childhood and teenage years. Some of the greatest memories shared with him were in the car ride home after games, and in the countless conversations where he shared not only his knowledge of sports, but lessons about life, hard work and strength of character.
Torre leaves behind a lifetime of memories filled with laughter, guidance, loyalty and love. The lessons he taught, the encouragement he gave and the love he poured into his family and community will never be forgotten.
Though his absence leaves an immeasurable emptiness, his voice, wisdom, humor and spirit will continue to live on in the hearts of everyone who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his loving wife, Veronica Lewis; son, Derrick (Megan) Lewis; sisters, Patricia (Gary) Lewis, Anita Lewis, Judy (Don) Welch, Karilyn Ebby Kendrick, Shelia Hawkins, Julia Lewis; brothers, Willie (Dorothy) Lewis, Marc McKinnon, Ron (Kari) Craton, Steven (Maxine) McKinnon, brother Bryen McKinnon, and brother Rodney Lewis.
Torre was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Sr. and Marcella Lewis; sister, Leona Lewis; and brother, Henry Lewis Jr.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Foundation, or the American Cancer Society.
