Michael ‘Mike’ Zwiers-Block

Michael "Mike" Zwiers-Block passed away on May 28, 2026. He was born on March 27, 1957, the son of Harry Jr. and Phyllis (Cook) Block.
Mike graduated from Montague High School in 1975. Following high school, he attended business school, earning a degree in business. He began his professional career at North Labs before later joining Tower Laboratories in Montague, where he held a variety of positions throughout his years of service. He was respected by his coworkers and valued for his dedication, reliability, and strong work ethic.
Mike was a favorite among his nieces and nephews, known for his quick, dry sense of humor and his generous spirit. He loved cooking and was exceptionally talented in the kitchen, although he often joked that he could never quite duplicate his mother's famous potato salad.
The holiday season was one of Mike's greatest joys. His home became a showcase of Peanuts-themed decorations, both indoors and outdoors, with displays some might describe as delightfully over-the-top. Snoopy was his hero, and he embraced the season's fun and wonder with enthusiasm.
Another of Mike's favorite pastimes was glamping. He and Floyd spent many happy seasons relaxing at Irons RV Park, enjoying all the comforts of home in their well-appointed trailer and creating lasting memories with friends and family.
Earlier in life, Mike was active in the Montague Showboat and the White Lake Community Theatre, sharing his love of community and the performing arts.
Mike will be remembered for his humor, kindness, creativity, and the joy he brought to those around him. His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.
Mike is survived by: his siblings, Bruce (Linda) Block and Ronald (Jerianne) Block; nieces and nephews, Barbara (John) Stephens, Jamie (Jeff Craddock) Block, Stefanie (Casey) Wellnitz, James (Samantha) Block, and Christopher Block; and great-nephews, Ian, Connor, and Gavin Block.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Harry Jr. and Phyllis (Cook) Block; husband, Floyd Zwiers-Block; niece, Kirsten Block; and sister-in-law, Gaye Block.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, June 26, 2026, at the Shelby Congregational United Church of Christ, 51 E. Third St., Shelby, MI 49455. A luncheon will immediately follow services in the church's fellowship hall.
