Barbara Ann (Dailey) Vanderberg, age 83, passed away at the American House in Spring Lake, Michigan, on Monday, June 29, 2026. Having accepted Jesus Christ as her Savior at a young age, Barb was wonderfully escorted to her heavenly home to be with her Lord forever. Barb lived her Christian faith throughout her life. Her favorite Bible verses were Proverbs 3:5-7.
Barb was born on September 13, 1942, in Hart, Michigan, to John Henry and Clara Mae (Hall) Dailey. Barb graduated from Hart High School in 1960 and then attended Muskegon Business School. Upon graduation, she began her working career at Cannon-Muskegon Corporation as personal secretary to Mr. Cannon. This is where she met her husband to be, Kenneth I. Vanderberg.
Ken and Barb were married on June 21, 1963, in Muskegon, Michigan. They enjoyed a wonderful Christian marriage for over 63 years. Ken’s employment took them first to Midland, Michigan, and then to Kentucky, Connecticut, Texas, and finally back to the West Michigan area.
Barb was blessed in her growing-up years to have a mother who was a 4-H teacher. Barb learned many basic homemaking skills that served her well in raising three active boys. Her gift of hospitality always made strangers and friends feel welcome. Her sons were noted for bringing home high school and college friends unannounced. Of course, there was always room at the dining room table. After moving back to Muskegon, Barb continued her career as an administrative assistant at Michigan Springs/Motion Dynamics Corporation.
Barb and Ken enjoyed traveling. They visited all 50 states, mostly in their motor home. They especially enjoyed traveling to Europe, spending one month backpacking in the Dolomite Mountains and then traveling throughout Europe by train. Back home, their love for adventure took them on a week-long backpacking trip into the Grand Canyon. Barb enjoyed running competitively and participated in over 600 road races, including three marathons at Disney World, Anchorage, Alaska, and the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington D.C. Using her sewing/quilting talents, Barb started her own hobby business designing and making quilts from race t-shirts.
Barb is survived by her husband, Kenneth Vanderberg; three sons, Daniel (Mondy) Vanderberg, Scott (Jill) Vanderberg, and Steven (Karen) Vanderberg; eight grandchildren, Kenny (Jamie) Vanderberg, Julie (Russell) Day, Hannah (Barrett) Guess, Emily (Gabriel) Anweiler, Sarah (Noah) Surface, Alyssa (Joshua) Hall, Jared (Eden) Vanderberg, and Cassie Vanderberg; eight great-grandchildren; and brother John Dailey and sisters Joan Gustafson and Betty Dailey Nugent. Barb was preceded in death by her parents, John and Clara Dailey, and brother, Edward Arthur Dailey.
A celebration of Barb’s life will be held later this summer.
