Mitzi Mae Parsons

Mitzi Mae Parsons, of Montague, Michigan, passed away Monday, June 29, 2026, surrounded by family. She was born in Scottville, Michigan, January 21, 1933, to Burton and Zelpha (Wever) Moore. She grew up and graduated from Scottville High School. Mitzi married her high school sweetheart Darwin Parsons in 1950. They resided in Scottville with their two children until moving to Montague, Michigan where they spent the remainder of their years together.
Mitzi loved reading cookbooks, cooking and being in numerous business ventures with her husband throughout their marriage of 75 years. Traveling was another enjoyment they shared together, and of course there was the family cabin at Wawa, Canada. The joys of family get-togethers with 10 great-grandchildren were always at the top of their priorities.
Mitzi was a member of the Claybanks United Methodist Church, where she was an active member in the ladies’ UMW.
She is survived by: their children, Daniel (Lori) Parsons of Montague and Konda Grant of Montague; grandchildren, Brandon (Maria) Parsons, Carrie (Christopher) Jensen, Patricia (Charles) Jegla, Susan (Warren) Yaw, and Jennifer (Andrew) Short; 10 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Mitzi was preceded in death by her husband, Darwin Parsons; and her parents, Burton and Zelpha Moore.
A combined Celebration of Life for Mitzi and Darwin will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at the Claybanks United Methodist Church, with a luncheon following.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Claybanks United Methodist Church or Harbor Hospice of Muskegon.
Harris Funeral Home of Shelby is in charge of arrangements.
