Floyd Alvin Strandberg

Dr. Floyd Alvin Strandberg, Ph.D., 77, of New Era, passed away Monday, July 6, 2026. He was born August 11, 1948, in Muskegon, the son of Gerald and Elizabeth (Lofton) Strandberg.  
Papa Floyd loved kids and worked in the school systems in Michigan and Oregon for 40 years, in teaching and administration of K-12 children.
Floyd and Sandra (McSorley) were married for 57 years and were blessed with a son and daughter along with five grandchildren.
Floyd was a member of the Shelby Seventh-day Adventist Church, where he served as soloist and elder. He enjoyed traveling to all 50 of the United States. Floyd loved playing Santa for charity organizations. He received his first pair of glasses from a Lions Club and was involved with their charity work ever since. Floyd also adopted about 20 animals from animal rescue projects.
Floyd is survived by: his wife of 57 years, Sandra (McSorley); son, Kevin (Tracy); daughter, Jennifer (Patrick); grandchildren, Delaney, Kenzie, Brian, Amelia and Kellen; brother, Gerald (Gloria); sister, Cheryl (Rich); and many nieces and nephews.
Floyd was preceded in death by: his parents, Gerald and Elizabeth; sister, Louise; and brothers, Wilbur and Lynn.
A celebration of Floyd’s life will be held from 4-6 p.m., Sunday, August 16, 2026, at White Cloud Seventh Day Baptist Church, 952 E Wilcox Ave, White Cloud, MI 49349.
