Montague opened its season Saturday with three consecutive ties, ultimately posting a 1-1-3 record at the Shepherd Invitational.
The
Wildcats split their first three matches, tying Portland, Fulton and
Cedar Springs. The 'Cats then edged Newaygo in a three-game battle,
15-25, 28-26, 15-10, before falling to Eaton Rapids in bracket play,
25-18, 25-20.
Annelyse Schneider had a big statistical day for
the Wildcats, leading the team with 38 digs, 14 blocks and 23 kills.
Gabby Dietz also had 38 digs for Montague, and Hallie VanTuyl added 33.
Ella Evans served eight aces, and VanTuyl had 51 assists.
