Pentwater did not have enough finishers to score as a team at
Saturday's Fruitport Invitational, but the Falcons had five new season
bests, including all three boys' finishers.
Tyler Zimmer was
the top Falcon runner, earning 23rd place in the boys' race with a time
of 20:14.3. Bode Powell beat his previous season mark by 20 seconds,
finishing in 21:29.1 to take 33rd. Ben Roberson's season best cut even
more time off his past mark - nearly 40 seconds - as he finished in a
time of 22:26.96 to take 42nd.
On the girls' side, Lily Smith
slashed her season best by over a minute and finished in 24th place with
a time of 25:23.8. Lauren Davis was 34th (26:44.7), and eighth-grader
Valerie Smith made her varsity debut by coming in 48th (31:42.5). Maggie
Jorissen took 50th (32:42.2) to close out Falcon efforts.
"We
are incredibly proud of all the runners for their hard work and
determination," Pentwater coach Erika Fatura said. "This meet is a
favorite among our runners, thanks to the stunning course and
consistently pleasant weather."
