Hart softball piles up runs in sweep of Ludington

Hart piled up the runs Thursday against Ludington, scoring a doubleheader sweep of the Orioles, 16-3 and 18-9.
Reese Smith pitched a five-inning no-hitter for the Pirates (4-4) in game one, though four walks and four Hart fielding errors helped the Orioles score three times. Smith struck out five batters.
The Pirates took advantage of seven Oriole errors in the opener and scored eight times in the first inning en route to the win. Smith opened the scoring with a RBI single, and later added another RBI single in the fourth. Smith and Makenna Carrier each drove in three runs.
Hart continued to benefit from Oriole miscues in game two, as Ludington had 10 errors to go with 15 Hart hits. Maria Rodriguez had three hits, and Carrier, Smith, Caydence Bateson and Elyssa Tanis each got two. Smith drove in four runs and Carrier scored four times. Tanis and Bateson came across the plate three times each.
Tanis got the win in game two, allowing only two hits and two earned runs. She struck out three and walked eight.
