Hesperia lost to Holton in its season opening game Tuesday, 14-5.
The
second game was paused with Holton leading 6-5 in the second inning due
to wet field conditions, with plans to resume the game at a later date.
Holton
had a slim 1-0 lead after three innings in game one, but scored five
times in the fourth to take control of the game. Weston Hasted had two
hits, including a double, for the Panther offense, and Marshall Norris
and Evan Conkle also had two hits each. Norris pitched a scoreless
inning of relief in the game.
The Panthers raced to a 5-0 lead
to start game two, with Nate Sherburn's RBI single the big hit in the
five-run first inning. Holton rallied to go ahead 6-5 before conditions
forced the game to be paused. Sherburn already had two hits at the point
of the pause.
