Hesperia softball downed by No. 3 Holton in WMC Rivers opener

Hesperia fell to Division 4 No. 3-ranked Holton in Tuesday's West Michigan Conference Rivers opening doubleheader, 11-1 and 14-2.
Olivia Gerard got a hit and scored the Panthers' only run in game one, and Madesyn Bolles had a double. The Red Devils scored multiple times in each of the first three innings and made it a mercy-rule game in the sixth.
Hesperia grabbed an early 1-0 lead in game two on a RBI single by Sarissa Conkle, but Holton scored the game's next 11 runs, and the contest ended after five innings due to the mercy rule. Gerard ripped a RBI double, and Jeri Ward also got a hit.
