Shelby pulled off a dramatic 10-inning win over North Muskegon
Wednesday in the completion of a game suspended for darkness the week
before, giving the Tigers a key sweep early in the West Michigan
Conference Rivers season.
The teams were tied 4-4 after seven innings April 14 before darkness forced the game to be suspended.
Leighton
Belasco scored the winning run in the 10th inning. He singled with one
out, reached second on a groundout, got to third on a wild pitch and
came across to score on a Norsemen error.
DayDay Garcia pitched three perfect innings in extra frames, striking out four, to get the win.
The
two teams then played a non-conference game, which the Norsemen won
4-0. The Tigers managed two hits, one each by Garcia and Chase Simon.
Garcia's hit was a triple.
Axel Moritz took a tough-luck loss in the game, allowing one run on six hits in five innings of work.
